...then Louis Réard, a Parisian engineer steals Heim's thunder and 'officially' creates the 'Bikini Atoll'. So scandalous was the design that he had to hire a nude dancer Micheline Bernardini to model it. The string bikini exposed a shocking 30 inches of the backside.
